San Jose, Costa Rica
We are back in a big city. We have left behind the fast moving clouds and the wonderful forests and many new friends. It was less than two weeks ago that our students were a bit nervous about their home stays. Today they spoke about them with special reguard. The time has gone way to fast. Perhaps the Zip lines helped us re-enter the fast moving world outside the Monteverde region. Dale
Zip Line platform in the Cloud Forest
We are about half way through and about 90 ft. above the forest floor. Dale
The Gazebo
Several crews worked on this. They had to haul lumber to the sight. No power. Only hammers and hand saws. The finished railing is outstanding.
The Art Building Mosaic
Cody and Zach worked so hard on this project and the results speaks for its self. Dale
Service Projects COmpleted
After four mornings of working very hard we wrapped up our service projects. The new main path that leads into the campus required many loads of large rock and many more wheel barrows full of fine gravel. The Gazebo that Spencer and the summer Catlin kids worked on now has a railing around it and the Art building has a large mosaic at its entrance. The Catlin students worked hard. Even more important is how much they care about the projects and how they will help the school. Please check out these photos fromthe last 4 days. Dale
Everyday Life at CEC
It has only been three days, but we have created a new main path into the school, built a railing around the gazebo and created an impressive mosaic in front of the art building. That is just in the mornings and then students are in language classes with Wally, reflective writing with Chris and art with Dale. The watercolors have become a nice reflective endeavor. I'm so impressed with Zach, Cody, Jamie and others for their nice watercolors. Students created watercolor postcards too, with notes to themselves that I will mail to them in a month. These will include reminders of Costa Rica.
